Family Ski Trip to Beaver Creek

This was our second ski trip to Beaver Creek Resort in Avon, Colorado and it has easily become a family favorite vacation. Beaver Creek is so family friendly and we have been looking forward to this trip since our last visit. It did not disappoint again! I’ve gotten some request from ya’ll to share our experience, so let’s get started.

Where We Stayed

Travel: We flew into Eagle County Airport because it is only 30 minutes from Beaver Creek. I hear you can find cheaper flights into Denver, but then it would be about a 3 hour drive. We had a shuttle pick up most of our group, and also rented a car for any quick errands during our stay.

We stayed in Beaver Creek Village which allowed us to walk everywhere and have ski in/ski out access to our rental home. While we did rent a car, we only used it to go to the grocery store and definitely could have done without if needed.

Since we had a group of 10, we chose to rent a home in the Pinehurst Townhomes instead of staying in a hotel. We wanted to be able to spend time together as a family under one roof. This also provided us with a laundry room, which significantly helped us pack less, and a full kitchen.

They brought out hot chocolate chip cookies to the slopes every afternoon.

Where We Ate

As I mentioned above we had a kitchen so we mostly ate at the house. One tip is to make reservations for dining very early in advance, like before you even get to Beaver Creek if possible. We were there over President’s Day weekend which is a very busy time of year for them. It was impossible for us to snag dinner reservations this time around for our entire group.

Lunch: Our first day there we picked up pizza from Blue Moose Pizza. Another favorite lunch spot for us was The Golden Eagle Inn. Their grilled cheese sandwich is amazing!

Dinner: Jon and I were able to have a date night and went Hooked for some sushi. Last year we went to Grouse Mountain Grill and loved it, but we couldn’t get a reservation this time around.

SKI LESSONS

We reserved our ski equipment online ahead of time and had the rental company delivered it to the house. So convenient!

Since this was our second time skiing, I took a lesson the first day as a refresher course. Their group lessons have 6 skiers max because they want to give everyone the attention they need. It definitely helped me get my bearings and then I joined Jon on the slopes.

The girls did ski school again this year and loved it! Jadyn did a full day which was from 9:30-3:00. She gained so much confidence and was skiing all the way down the mountain like a pro by the end of the trip. Zoe did half day ski school from 9:30-12:00 and loved every minute of it.
